"62 Broad was the perfect place to hold our Wedding Ceremony. It's right off of a cobblestone street, with lush gardens, and a beautiful oak tree that provides just enough shade for your guests. We were married in May, and I didn't have to bring in too many decorations, because the garden itself was so beautiful. This venue is such a hidden gem as far as wedding venues goes. 10 years after this property was renovated, the 1885 cyclone seriously damaged the buildings and extensive repairs had to be made.  The very next year on August 31, 1886, the great earthquake struck Charleston and further damaged the property.  The school that was occupying the property at the time had to close for one full year for more renovations.  Generous contributions from all over the country were received and memorialized by this marble tablet that is displayed over the main entrance. #62broadstreet #charleston #charlestonsc #charlestonhistory #charlestonvenue #charlestoneventvenue

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the 62 Broad Street fire that damaged 8 apartments and displaced 12 renters. Thanks to the Charleston Fire Department for their quick response to the property which helped contain the fire and saved lives. This circa-1800 historic building initially served as the home of Governor John Geddes.
